The Gallery at St. Paul's presents "In God's Country",
an exhibition of works by artist Bobi Perry
From January 22 to April 29, 2012, The Gallery at St. Paul's will present "In God's Country", an exhibition of works by artist Bobi Perry. There will be an artist's reception on Sunday, March 4 from 3-5 p.m. which is free and open to the public.
The Gallery at St. Paul's is located at 1802 Abercorn (34th & Abercorn).
The show features 'landscapes of the mind', in which the artist wonders "what it would be like to be flying by the seat of your pants at the mercy of Mother Nature."
Using found art, or, "what I stumble over", Perry explains, an item will "announce (that it wants) to be placed on a 2-D surface."
"In the process Mother Nature becomes transformed from one thing to another, such as a dried blossom from a bush becomes a tree, the tip of a pine cone petal becomes a rock," Perry continues. "Thus, I call this 'transformational art'," she explains.
These landscapes are certainly not what Audubon saw on his excursions, but Perry "hopes they stir in viewers a quiet and ongoing joy made possible by their being untitled, open to interpretation and made personal."
Bobi Perry received an undergraduate and graduate degrees from the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has exhibited in California, Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia, but mainly concentrates on her career as a Registered Art Therapist.
